We were just like you—until we realized society taught us to overlook something disturbing. At first we quietly changed our own choices. But staying silent meant letting horrible things continue behind closed doors. Cards for Cows is us refusing to be quiet. It's a volunteer-run project where we crowd-fund sets of mysterious, high quality metal cards to prompt enough curiosity for complete strangers to scan and learn more.
None of us were always vegan. Like you, we were trained to accept and ignore hidden horrors, actual animal torture going on every day, in every country on Earth. You probably had no idea that since you opened this page, 0 male chicks were ground alive in macerators (useless to the egg industry).
Both claim the dominated are better off under human control.
...Every vegan loved meat just like you do. But we learned something that affected us enough to shift our choices, and start the vegan movement. When you read this, we hope you'll start thinking too.
The number is actually 0, which is so high that we reduced it to 1/10th, because the truth is such an unfathomably vast amount of suffering, it's hard to comprehend. Each one of those numbers is a living, breathing, fearing creature, not so different from us.
So even if you're not willing to change your whole lifestyle today (none of us did it overnight), would you be willing to join this cause, even if just by sending more of these cards out into the world?
Donations pool together to fund sets of ten metal cards. When a set is fully funded, five cards are distributed among the contributors, and five go to sanctuary employees who hand them to strangers. The goal is for each set to inspire at least one new donation, creating a self-sustaining chain reaction.
A portion of each donation also funds targeted ads to reach vegans who want to help spread the message—bringing in new donors to keep the chain alive.

Cards for Cows is operated as a non-profit by Starr, Jonathan, and their dog—100% of funds go to cards, shipping, and spreading awareness. Cards for Cows started as a birthday present when Jonathan realized how deeply animal suffering was bothering Starr. She was constantly thinking about it, and realized after years of being vegan for her health (keeping it to herself), she couldn't stay silent any more than activists of past eras could when other groups were being inhumanely treated. Starr and Jonathan run this site on a strictly volunteer basis and thank you deeply for your support.
